Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument to host 125th Anniversary ceremony, July 4th, 2019

The iconic Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument in Public Square hosted a 125th Anniversary celebration on Thursday, July 4th. The monument commemorates the Civil War and honors citizens of Cuyahoga County who found and worked for the Union. Thursday's ceremony included special remarks from keynote speaker Major General John C. Harris, Jr. Major General Harris has served in the Ohio Army National Guard for almost 40 years. The Pipes and Drums of the Cleveland Police performed live musical selections before the ceremony and Officer Heather Bruner sang the National Anthem. Dozens of people attended the program to honor those who served in the Civil War.
