Seasonal Employee

The Group Plan Commission (GPC) is the civic, non-profit organization that programs, maintains and operates Public Square and maintains the MALL in partnership with the city of Cleveland.



COMPENSATION: Hourly; $16/hour


This seasonal position is primarily hired for the summer event season, however, could be utilized into the fall and winter event seasons as well if the individual is available.

In general, seasonal employees may work up to 30 hours per week and may be required to work weekends and evenings.

The initial schedule is from June 1 – August 14, 2023 for Summer Splash in The Square programming. Summer Splash is a summer program for children 2 – 12, however, parents or caretakers must remain with their children.

Primary responsibilities will be to coordinate and participate in Summer Splash in The Square. Employees will work outside in Public Square and will occasionally work in an office environment.

The employee is responsible for the following:

  • Daily set up of activities

  • Interaction with children and parents

  • Leading and executing activities

  • Ensuring a safe environment for children

  • Acquiring survey/research data through iPad or iPhone technology

  • Daily clean-up following event

Ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Leadership

  • Initiative

  • Creativity

  • Pleasant, outgoing personality and demeanor

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

  • Ability to work effectively with young children


  • Prior teaching, summer camp or youth services experience

  • First Aid and CPR Certification


  • Flexible – based upon event and office requirements

  • Summer Splash = Sunday through Saturday 11 am to 3 pm

HOURS PER WEEK: 30 hours maximum
