REQUIREMENTS

TERMINAL TOWER SECURITY | 216-658-8401

PERSONS REQUIRING ASSISTANCE

K & D Management requests that an updated list be maintained indicating the name, location, and type of assistance needed for each physically challenged person. This list is then made available to the Fire Department. For the purpose of this procedure, any person with a temporary or permanent disability, or other condition that would require them to require assistance during an evacuation is considered “physically challenged”.

KNOW THE FOLLOWING IN ADVANCE

  • The location of the emergency exits

  • The location of the nearest fire extinguishers

  • How to use a fire extinguisher

  • Procedure for a fire emergency

  • How to activate the building fire alarm

RESPONSIBLE

All Group Plan Commission staff members must be aware of proper fire and emergency evacuation procedures.

PROCEDURE

In the event it becomes necessary to evacuate the building for any reason, please observe the following:

  • DO NOT PANIC

  • Do not use the elevator

  • Walk – do not run

  • Proceed to the Emergency Exit Stairwell that is located directly across from our office entrance.

  • Remember to assist those who are physically challenged

  • Close all doors as you leave to limit smoke and fire.

  • Activate the manual pull station that is located directly across from our office entrance.

  • Call 911 and then Terminal Tower Security: 216-658-8401

  • Evacuate the building

  • Assist those persons needing help

  • Walk – do not run

EXITING YOUR OFFICE

  • Close all doors to reduce the spread of smoke and fire.

  • If a smoke-filled hallway is the only route to a clear exit, then crawl on your hands and knees. Smoke rises and clean air is nearest to the floor.

  • Proceed to the Emergency Exit Stairwell that is located directly across from our office entrance.

  • All stairwell doors automatically unlock in the event of a power failure. pull station alarm activation or smoke detector activation. Check the stairwell to ensure it is not filled with smoke before proceeding downstairs to the outside fire exit. Use the handrail as you descend. If the stairwell is filled with smoke, use a different building stairwell as your alternate escape route. In the event of a power outage, all stairwells are equipped with emergency lighting.

  • Exit the building and proceed to our assembly area: the Mural Wall behind Rebol Café

  • It is important that in an actual emergency, efforts be made to determine if anyone has been left behind. Roll call should be taken at your assembly. Report any persons who did not evacuate to the nearest rescue, fire or police personnel.
