Cleveland Public Square, with the generous support of The Cleveland Foundation, is introducing a FREE program for families every day of summer vacation!

Summer Splash in The Square will occur daily from June 1 – August 31 from 11 am – 2 PM and will feature numerous activities for children 2 – 10 years old.  Many of the activities will take place near the splash pad on the Cleveland Foundation Centennial Plaza.

“Summer Splash in the Square was created as an opportunity for families to enjoy time together while their children participate in fun and interesting team and individual activities.  The event is completely free.  It’s an ideal summer activity for stay-at-home parents or working parents who send their children with a caregiver.  It’s also great for extended families, neighborhood groups or day camps.  The program really caters to a wide range of people interested in keeping their kids active during the summer school break.  We are very thankful for the support of the Cleveland Foundation to bring this program to the community, said Sanaa Julien, CEO of The Group Plan Commission, the non-profit organization that programs, manages and operates Cleveland’s premier public park, Public Square. Featured activities include kids Yoga and fun exercise games, making and doing sessions with Cleveland Ingenuity,  Pop-Up storytime with Cleveland Public Library, guitar lessons with guitar acrobat Diana Chittester, instrument exploration with Cleveland Music Settlement, planting  vegetable or flower pots with Royal Landscape, giant chess, Jenga, jump roping, giant Twister, hula hoops,  Connect 4 and many other outdoor activities. Each day will be uniquely programmed, however, EVERY day will feature kids yoga warm up and cool down plus three additional twenty-minute activity sessions coordinated by Brianna Halloran, owner of viBE and led by local instructors who specialize in kids yoga and exercise.

“The new Cleveland Public Square has quickly become a go-to destination for families and visitors to experience downtown Cleveland throughout the year,” said Michael D. Murphy, Chief Marketing Officer, Cleveland Foundation. “It’s great to see the Cleveland Foundation Centennial Plaza transform into a brand new, and equally as fun, experience for residents of all ages. I have a feeling it will make quite the splash in our community this summer!”

Food and beverage will be available for sale at Rebol every day and during Food Truck Tuesdays. Families are also encouraged to visit the many Public Square area restaurants and businesses, or pack a picnic lunch and enjoy in The Square during the events.

In addition to the many great activities, PRE4CLE staff will be at the event each Friday to introduce parents to preschool options in Cleveland.

Traveling to Public Square is easy with RTA.  The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is offering a local summer travel and tourism promotion again this summer that allows families to travel on RTA at a significantly reduced rate.

Daily schedules will be posted on clevelandpublicsquare.com/summersplash.
